Stitched Into Memory Opening Reception

Support your local artists and celebrate West African art!
Join us for the opening reception of Stitched Into Memory, a large-scale West African textile installation created by young artists from all around Boston using traditional tie, dye, stitch, and weave techniques. Led by arts educator Stephen Hamilton and created with the support of the New England Foundation for the Arts, Atlantic Wharf, and the Friends of Fort Point Channel.
Meet the young artists and join us for a day of West African food, music, demos, art, & more! Open to all ages. Be sure to stop by on your way to the African Festival of Boston!
Stitched Into Memory:
Stitched Into Memory is an arts education initiative teaching ancient West African textile arts to Boston youth. Led by artist and educator, Stephen Hamilton, with the generous support of the New England Foundation for the Arts, and in collaboration with the Friends of Fort Point Channel, this project will celebrate and commemorate the historic and contemporary African Diasporic communities of Boston.
